Faculties Management is the Multifunctional activity which provide the total service facility to the relevant organization/building. This simply means the managing the premises. Further, this can be identified as a supporting function where arranging the facilities to manage the core function of the organization or building. This can be overall identified as the Maintenance Management, Administration Management as well as Facility Management.
What is a commercial building
This can be easily explained that the location or a building where the commercial activities are going on. Example a Bank, shopping complex, Insurance company, Any other office complex which work toward generating the profits.
How to FM relates to the commercial building
As aforementioned, the facility management function is the supportive function where it supports to function the core business of the particular building. There the main task of the Facility Management is to maintain the premises without any disturbance to its clients and the employees. There are many Facility Management related functions as mentioned below which engage in a commercial building Facility.
Maintenance Management
The main core function of the Facilities Management of the building is the Maintenance Management. This included all related Maintenance Activities as preventive Maintenance, Predictive maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance etc. The main purpose of the Maintenance Management to the building is the have the smooth operation of the Building systems such as Electrical, Plumbing, Generators, UPS, Lifts, HVAC, ELV, Boilers ect.
Energy Management and sustainability
This is the one of the main functions in the Facility Management practice where the Facility Manager should identify there areas where we can optimize the energy consumption and sustainability.
Waste Management
Managing waste is the one of the critical area to manage in an organization there will be lot of Food and other non combustible items which will through away daily. Hence the managing the waste without being a hazel is the challenge.
Space Management and utilizing the maximum usage of the space is very much critical these days as the cost of a Sq.ft has been increased. Hence FM should have a sense to management space at the optimal level.
Other than above highlighted points, there will be more like, building performance Management, Health and safety aspects, Project Management etc.
